The RSFQ works to develop the profession and its specificity within the Quebec health system. Several birth center projects and new service points are being developed in different regions of Quebec.

Citizen organizations

Groupe M.A.M.A.N.

The Groupe M.A.M.A.N. defends and promotes the rights and respect for the dignity of women and families at the time of pregnancy and birth. For all details concerning a citizens’ group or a parents’ committee, here is the list available on their website.

Regroupement Naissance-Renaissance (RNR)

The Regroupement Naissance-Renaissance (RNR) is an independent provincial feminist community action organization, which acts as a force for social change for the humanization of the perinatal period by promoting the rights, power and commitment of women in all aspects of their perinatal experience.

Coalition pour la pratique sage-femme

The Coalition pour la pratique sage-femme defends the free choice of the place of birth (birthing centre, home or hospital). It supports all women who want to give birth with the assistance of a midwife and all citizen groups who want to have access to midwifery services and birthing centres. The Coalition is formed by groups of citizens and associations from the community movement, social economy and the women’s movement. On May 5, 2017, the Coalition officially launched its platform defining its objectives.
